Hidden by over-tourism and the inevitable deterioration of its natural beauty, there are some beaches that can only be enjoyed by those who decide to seek them out and get there only by boat.
From Mexico to our own, famous shipwreck of Zakynthos, Ceo magazine suggests 5 such enchanting, “hidden” beaches that will blow your mind as soon as you see them.
Hidden Beach – Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
For a hidden beach that looks out of this planet, it doesn’t get any better than Hidden Beach – literally. This secluded, Instagrammable beach is located in the Marieta Islands off the west coast of Mexico, near the resort town of Puerto Vallarta. From above you can spot it thanks to the circular shape of the rocks around it and it is only accessible through a water tunnel.
Furore – Amalfi Coast, Italy
A little further away from the idyllic, famous resorts of the Amalfi Coast, lies the small town of Furore which boasts one of the most spectacular hidden beaches in the world.
A huge fjord with an impressive bridge going over it, ends at a tiny beach filled with colorful boats, locals and only those in the know.
Even getting to the beach is an adventure as you have to descend (and then climb) several steep steps until you reach the crystal clear turquoise waters below – but oh well!
Whitehaven Beach (Paradise beach with white sand) – Whitsunday Islands, Australia
What her name says, she is. Off the north coast of Queensland in the Whitsunday Islands lies a famous 6.5km long sparkling white sand beach surrounded by lush forests and azure waters.
What makes this beach hidden? The strict visiting limits imposed by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Only a limited number of people can visit the beach every day, so you can almost call it a scam.
“Wreck” – Zakynthos, Greece
“Forget Mykonos. If you have a boat, then set off for the spectacular Navagio Beach in Zakynthos. Since this small beach is only accessible by boat, it is one of the best hidden beaches in the world, framed by sheer cliffs and crystal blue waters,” the magazine writes.
Phu Quoc Island – Vietnam
Those who find Phuket and Koh Samui too touristy can head over to Phu Quoc Island. Located just off the southern coast of Vietnam, it is a secluded, exotic paradise of white beaches, palm trees and small but luxurious resorts. There is not much commercial exploitation of the place as half of the island belongs to the Phu Quoc National Park.
Benagil Caves, Portugal
Portugal’s Algarve region is unique in the world and its coastline is famous for its natural rock arches. Somewhere there, there is a hidden beach, Benagil Cave, bathed in abundant sun and accessible to the public only by water.
