Former BBB Matteus Amaral spoke publicly for the first time after it was confirmed that he circumvented the quota system of the Farroupilha Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology (IFFar). This Saturday (15), during an event in Alegrete (RS), he said he saw “evil” in people, without mentioning the episode directly.
Last Friday (14), the university confirmed that Amaral entered the bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering offered in conjunction with Unipampa. His registration was made in the vacancies reserved for black/brown candidates.
On social media, the former BBB had already spoken out and said that the registration was carried out “by a third party”, unintentionally.
Now, he said he is going through a difficult time. “I confess that it’s not easy to deal with everything I’m going through. Now, finally, there were the events, which were things that people with evil wanted to do… Anyway, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything I’m going through”, said in a video that circulated on social media.
In confirmation sent to F5the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology Farroupilha (IFFar) justified that there was no system for verifying registrations by quota when Amaral signed up.
“It is extremely important to be clear that, at that time, according to the 2012 Quota Law, the only document required to register for quotas was the candidate’s self-declaration. Just like in other federal educational institutions, there was no mechanism for verifying or proving the candidate’s statement.”
As there was no mechanism, there needed to be some complaint so that the university could become aware of the case, initiate an administrative process and punish the student if necessary. But no charges were filed at the time.
