“Little kites meet big Mickey” was the title of the event in which more than 300 children from the kindergartens of the Municipality of Chania joined their voices singing melodies by Mickey Theodorakis, flooding the Peace and Friendship Park with music.

The event, held as part of the completion of the eTwinning program, brought together students from the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th Kindergarten of Kounoupidian, the 2nd Kindergarten of Aroni, the 2nd, 5th, 14th, 19th, 27th Kindergarten of Chania and the 2nd Kindergarten of Perivolia .

“The aim of the action, beyond the educational dimension, was to highlight the cooperation between the schools and to highlight the importance of unity and collectivity, as well as to pay tribute to the great Mikis Theodorakis for the enormous cultural heritage he gave us,” he said. the deputy mayor for Culture, Yiannis Giannakakis, emphasizing at the same time that the students and their parents enjoyed both the process and this special concert.

“The students, during the preparation of the unique concert, had the opportunity to get to know important biographical details of Mikis Theodorakis, to discover some of his musical treasures and to express themselves theatrically and visually through his musical works.”

This educational program, although short, gave the students a unique opportunity to delve into the musical heritage of the great Greek and Chanio composer, developing their artistic skills at the same time. Helpers of the action were Georgios Agorastakis, president of the Pancretian Association of Friends of Mikis Theodorakis, who provided the original material and supported the successful implementation of the action, and Nikolaos Perakis, an accomplished musician and conductor of the Children’s and Adolescent Choir of the Municipality of Chania, who guided and prepared students musically.
