If deciding what to serve at a wedding already makes many brides nervous, imagine when the person getting married is the best chef in the world? At Janaina Torres’ party, 49, there was no fuss: barbecue, served on a skewer, with sausage and chicken hearts, among the options.
Torres, who is a chef and partner at the restaurant A Casa do Porco —one of the most starred in Brazil—, married filmmaker Leandro Langoni this Saturday (29). The date is also marked by the groom’s birthday.
“Today is your day, so generous you decided to share it with me to become ours,” Torres wrote on social media. “Happy all our days. Happy birthday, happy wedding, happy your day, happy our family, Saint Peter’s Day, happy June 29th! I love you, we love you. What a feeling!”
“Yay! Thank you, my love, it’s wonderful to walk by your side and make this day ours”, replied Langoni. “Woohoo!! Kisses on the mouth!!!”
The ceremony was attended by friends and family at Parador, a restaurant on the rooftop of the Renata Building in downtown São Paulo. The party featured the participation of the drum section of the São Paulo samba school Vai-Vai. The couple’s friend Fafá de Belém, who was in a wheelchair after a domestic accident, also gave a live performance.
Torres is a partner in five addresses in the capital of São Paulo (A Casa do Porco, Bar da Dona Onça, Hot Pork, Sorveteria do Centro and Merenda da Cidade, in addition to the butcher shop Porco Real). In March, she was chosen by the World’s 50 Best, a specialized ranking in the sector, as the best female chef in the world.
She is also preparing for a new home, which will be called A Brasileira —according to what she told Sheetthe project foresees the opening of two new restaurants and a natural products emporium in 2025. The wedding has already included food that may appear on the menu.
In 2021, Janaina separated from chef Jefferson Rueda, with whom she maintained a partnership in the commercial establishments opened by the two. “I lived alone. Everyone always saw me alone everywhere,” she tells Sheet about the reasons for the end of the relationship.
