‘You Can Make It’ is a deeply personal song for the star inspired by those struggling with despair and grief
Will Smith took the stage at the BET Awards and premiered his new song titled “You Can Make It”, which marks his return to the music scene. In an impressive setting, the Oscar-winning and four-time GRAMMY winner wowed the audience together with his collaborators, the American artist Kirk Fridayy and the gospel group “Sunday Service”.
“You Can Make It” is a deeply personal song for the star inspired by those struggling with despair and grief.
“I don’t know who needs to hear this right now, but no matter what’s going on in your life, I’m here to tell you that you can do it.”Smith said on stage at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles which also featured Lauryn Hill, YG Marley, Ice Spice, Tyla, GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey and Victoria Monét.
The American actor/rapper ended his performance with an encouraging message saying: “No one has an easy road. We all have a cross to bear, but there is wisdom within that fire. And every moment of your life is a brand new opportunity.”
As People reports, in 1989 Smith made history as the first rapper to win a Grammy. Under the moniker Fresh Prince, he shared the award with DJ Jazzy Jeff for their single ‘Parents Just Don’t Understand’.
The BET Awards have been presented since 2001 by the Black Entertainment television network aimed at an African-American audience.
