Matthew McConaughey revealed that he is considering running for political office in the US. The American actor participated in a National Governors Association (NGA) debate in Salt Lake City this week, along with Democrats and Republicans.

When asked if he was seriously considering running for political office, he replied: “Yes, I have thought about running for office, entering this category. I have been on an educational tour for probably the last six years and I understand what this category means. I have an instinct and an intuition that it would be a good fit for me and I would be a good fit for it,” he added. “You know, I’d be useful?” write down.

He later expanded on the challenge of transitioning from the world of entertainment to politics and said extreme polarization has affected Hollywood as well.

The actor seriously considered running for governor of Texas in 2021. He spent several months reaching out to influential people in the state’s political circles as part of a potential campaign and found himself leading in some rounds of polls for the role.

Ultimately, he decided not to officially enter the election race. “As an ordinary child born in the small town of Uvalde, Texas, it never occurred to me that one day I would be considered for political leadership” he said.
