Meg Ryan is set to receive the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award at the 30th Film Festival in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina in recognition of her contribution to the film industry.

The actress will also present a special screening of her 1998 romantic comedy You’ve Got Mail, co-starring Tom Hanks, at the Open Air Cinema, the same venue where the American romantic comedy first screened 25 years ago in 5th Sarajevo Film Festival.

Meg Ryan will also participate in a master class moderated by Bosnian director Danis Tanovic, known for his Oscar-winning film No Man’s Land.

The American actress’ latest film ‘What Happens Later’ in 2023 will also be screened at the Festival. The Bleecker Street Media film starring Meg Ryan and David Duchovny is directed and written by her. It is the second film directed by the actress.

“Meg Ryan had our hearts at first sight!” said Jovan Marjanovic, director of the Sarajevo Film Festival. “Not only has she charmed us all with her unforgettable performances, but she has also proven her prowess behind the camera as a director and screenwriter. It is our honor to hand over the Heart of Sarajevo to her,” he said.

The 30th Sarajevo Film Festival runs from August 16 to 23.
