Total grants in the amount of 2,006,000.00 euros are announced by the Ministry of Culture following an invitation through the Register of Cultural Bodies of the Ministry of Culture, for a grant and/or providing patronage to Professional Theater Schemes, as part of the Ministry of Culture’s call for expressions of interest. The program “Creative Greece – Contemporary Culture Grants 2024” practically supports Contemporary Culture throughout the country.

Its main aim is to strengthen and highlight worthy cultural events/actions/initiatives in all sectors, while contributing to the renewal of citizens’ interest in contemporary artistic creations.

As the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni stated:

Once again, the Ministry of Culture, through the Creative Greece program, supports the theater and its creators, with grants of over 2 million euros to professional theater groups, for the realization of productions, events, festivals and tours. Grants to theater schemes are a main parameter of our Culture policies. Their material support ensures ideal conditions for the expression of creators and for the diffusion of their work and inspiration, a factor of social cohesion and solidarity, ensuring employment in the creative sector. At the same time, they also give impetus to the extroversion of modern Greek creation, so that it can conquer wider audiences and on the world stage, as it deserves».

A total of 233 timely proposals were submitted, including Theatrical Productions, Theatrical Events, Theatrical Festivals and Theatrical Tours, of which 188 met the terms and conditions of the call.

The Deputy Minister of Culture Iasonas Fotilas stated:

The Ministry of Culture’s 2024 grant call for theater events, theater productions, theater festivals and theater tours is a powerful tool for expression, emotional communication and problem solving with creativity and imagination. The Ministry of Education and Culture supports theater activity and integrated social and educational actions throughout Greece with individual grants for theater schemes that this year reach €2,006,000 in a total of 188 requests. The Ministry of Culture contributes in the clearest way to the strengthening of culture and to the strengthening of cultural culture».
