Silvio Santos’ grandson, actor Tiago Abravanel spoke about his grandfather’s farewell to Fantástico (Globo). According to him, the burial was done without fanfare, at Silvio’s own request.
“It was just how he wanted it. Simple, with his daughters, wife, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. His closest friends, his work colleagues. José, who works in his house. Raimunda, the chambermaid. But it was very special, because it was just how he wanted it: simple, delicate, intimate,” he commented.
Silvio Santos died in the early hours of Saturday (17), at the age of 93, and was buried on Sunday (18). “Without ostentation, without fanfare, everyone together, taking care of each other, hugging each other and remembering what he meant to each one of us,” commented the actor.
According to Abravanel, in recent months, Silvio began to discover the benefits of the internet. He also developed the habit of shopping online.
“His life was watching television. And now, at the end, it was series and films, all day long. I think now, towards the end, he discovered the internet,” he said.
Despite having already revealed that his grandfather was not as present in his life as he would have liked, Tiago said that in recent years they have become closer.
“The profession brought us closer together in this intimate relationship. I entered as if I had entered his world, which was also a gift, because I had the opportunity to sit with him, listen to advice, things that I didn’t have in my childhood. And to be able to hear from the master,” he said.
