The operator Vivo paid compensation of R$2,000 to actress Ana Paula Arósio. The case has already been finalized and there is no further appeal. F5 had access to the case files, which had been ongoing in the 9th Civil Court of the TJ-SP (Court of Justice of São Paulo) since 2019.

Ana Paula accused the company of abusive practices for sending her, in July of that year, a telephone bill to be paid.

The charge was for R$420 and the alleged debt originated in the city of São Carlos (SP). The account was created in 2017, when she claimed to already live outside of Brazil, in England. The actress denied having owned a property or business in the city, as well as a cell phone bill.

In the records, Ana Paula even confirms that she was a customer of the company, but provides evidence that her line had nothing to do with the one that was charged. Vivo threatened to list her as a defaulter with credit protection agencies.

The actress then requested R$10,000 in compensation. In the decision, signed by Judge Anderson Mendes, the magistrate agrees with Ana Paula’s argument and accepts all of her requests. “I find the lawsuit to declare the debt unenforceable to be admissible; and I also sentence Vivo to pay the amount of R$2,000.00 as moral damages,” said the judge.

Vivo attempted to appeal the decision, but was unsuccessful. The fine has already been paid to the artist, and the case has been closed.

Interestingly, in the 1990s and 2000s, Ana Paula Arósio was known as the “telephony muse”, having starred in several advertising campaigns for the now-defunct Embratel, now Claro. In one of them, she appeared with a child lookalike.

A soap opera star from the 1990s and early 2000s, the actress is 49 years old and has lived in England for nine years. She starred in soap operas such as “Hilda Furacão” (1998), “Terra Nostra” (1999) and “Um Só Coração” (2004).

Her last work on TV was in 2010 in the miniseries “Na Forma da Lei” (Globo). After that, she did some work in cinema, such as “Anita e Garibaldi” (2013), in which she starred alongside Gabriel Braga Nunes, but gradually moved away from acting.

Last month, Ana Paula resurfaced on the web to star in an advertisement. F5 found that the actress received R$700,000 in fees to star in a commercial for a pharmacy chain in partnership with a supplement brand.
