João Augusto and the twins, Marina and Sofia, children of presenter Gugu Liberato (1959-2019) and Rose Miriam, will meet with Ricardo Rocha, who also claims to be the heir of the former Record employee next Monday (9). They will participate in a conciliation hearing regarding the paternity investigation and, consequently, the division of the communicator’s assets.
The request for the hearing was made by the defense of the legally recognized children, who say they want to resolve the paternity investigation as soon as possible, according to Veja magazine. In June of last year, Ricardo filed a lawsuit in which he claimed to be Gugu’s fourth child. The businessman claims that his mother got involved with the presenter when she was 28 years old, and Liberato was only 14, in 1973.
With the action, the heirs had their assets frozen by the São Paulo courts, which ordered that a quarter of all bank account balances be frozen, in addition to financial investments and transfers. The presenter’s children have already agreed to provide material for the DNA test, but Roberto wants the test to be done on the presenter’s mother, Maria do Céu Moraes, 94.
The family rejects this imposition of the businessman’s defense because of the Liberato matriarch’s advanced age. The alleged fourth child uses the justification that João, Marina and Sofia were conceived via in vitro fertilization, they may not be the presenter’s biological children.
Gugu Liberato died at the age of 60 in November 2019, the victim of a domestic accident in Orlando, United States. He fell and hit his head. The presenter left 75% of his assets, estimated at R$1 billion, to his three children, and the remaining 25% to his five nephews.
