After declaring support for Kamala Harris in the US elections, Taylor Swift was the target of a misogynistic attack by Elon Musk on X. The billionaire said he would have a child with the singer and would take care of her cats.

The insult is based on the “childless cat lady” movement. The expression was used by JD Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate, to insult Kamala Harris and other women in the Democratic Party. “We are being governed by a bunch of childless cat ladies,” Vance said.

In recent months, anonymous and famous women such as Jennifer Aniston, Gloria Steinem and now Taylor Swift have proudly declared themselves “old cat lady without a child”, a counter-provocation to Vance.

On Tuesday night (10), after the debate between Trump and Kamala, Taylor published a photo with her kitten to announce support for the Democratic candidate and wrote: “Signed: Taylor Swift, old cat lady without a child.”

Taylor’s statement angered one of the most important supporters of the opposing party, Elon Musk. The owner of X used his social media to attack the pop star: “Okay, Taylor… You win… I’ll make you a son and protect your cats with my life,” Musk wrote.

It is worth remembering that the billionaire is the father of 12 children, all artificially generated, and rejects one of his daughters, who is a trans woman.

JD VANCE’S QUOTE

JD Vance’s speech was made in 2021, in an interview with Fox News, as a criticism of Kamala Harris, at the time the Secretary of Transportation. “We are being governed by a bunch of old cats with no children who have no place in society, are miserable with their own choices and want to make the rest of the country miserable too,” said Trump’s running mate.

When Trump announced him as his running mate, the interview resurfaced. “I can’t believe this is coming from a potential president of the United States,” said Jennifer Aniston, who has struggled with infertility for decades. “I wish your daughter the luck to one day be able to carry her own children,” the actress wrote on Instagram.

Whoopi Goldberg also spoke out: “Sir, there are people who choose not to have children for different reasons, there are people who can’t have children. How dare you? You’ve never had a baby, your wife had a baby. You don’t know anything about this,” the actress said on a morning show.

Writer Gloria Steinem, an important name in contemporary feminism, appeared on Instagram responding to the candidate’s speech and holding her cat Magritte: “Proud old lady of childless cats.”
