Former paquita Lana Rhodes returned to the spotlight in the documentary series “Para sempre Paquitas” (Globoplay), which brought together Xuxa’s former stage assistants. Despite having been successful in the 2000s, her name sounds familiar to new generations due to a coincidence.
Lana is often confused with Lana Rhoades, an American porn actress. The former paquita, who is now a theater actress, said that she suffers from the effects of the similarity between their names, including when it comes to getting work in the artistic scene.
“I get bizarre messages all day long. I don’t even open them anymore. Sometimes I even lose job offers because of this,” she told the newspaper O Globo. Many of the messages, addressed to the wrong Lana, express disappointment with her appearance, she said.
“People also send me messages that they are disappointed with my appearance, thinking that the other Lana is finished. They write: ‘Lana, what happened to you?’ Imagine, the girl is more than ten years younger than me,” she said.
The actress says she needs to have strategies to not let herself be shaken by the comments: “You have to have a lot of therapy to not get shaken by it. At first, it was something that really bothered me. Nowadays, I take it with good humor.”
