After discreetly landing in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday morning (18), Ed Sheeran decided to enjoy a very Carioca program before performing at Rock in Rio. The British singer went to the Maracanã stadium to watch Fluminense’s game against Atlético-MG in the Libertadores.
The request to be in the game’s crowd was made by the singer himself, according to what Fluminense’s press office told F5. With him, about 12 team members watch the game in the box.
The singer was also presented with a Fluminense shirt by the team’s president, Mário Bittencourt. Full-back Marcelo and defender Thiago Silva also sent autographed shirts.

Passionate about football, Sheeran bought part of the shares of Ipswich Town, his favorite team since childhood. Therefore, it is not surprising that the singer is interested in the classic program in the country of football.
The British player was filmed by the game’s cameras, which were broadcast live on the Paramount+ streaming service. On social media, internet users noticed his presence and were excited to see the British player cheering for the Brazilian team.
Ed Sheeran will be the main attraction at Rock in Rio this Thursday (19). Besides him, Charlie Puth, Joss Stone and Jão are some of the other attractions at the music festival.
