Andréa Sorvetão, 51, was another former stage assistant of Xuxa Meneghel who criticized the documentary series “Pra Semper Paquitas”, recently launched by Globoplay. Known as Xiquita, she says she was “outraged” by her small participation in the project, despite having given a long statement and even defending director Marlene Mattos against accusations of moral harassment. Sorvetão did not spare the project’s creators: Ana Paula Guimarães and Tatiana Maranhão.

Singer Conrado’s wife started complaining about the cut she suffered in the series. “I gave an hours-long statement for the documentary, but only a few minutes were shown. Unfortunately, the part in which I told, with great sincerity and emotion, my departure from the group”, she recalled, who, to the surprise of her fans, came out in defense of Marlene Mattos, who accused in the past of being responsible for her departure from the group in 1990.

Sorvetão joined the Queen of Little People’s team in 1986. “Some time after I left, as I was more mature, I got along with Marlene and we continued working on other fronts very successfully, without any hurt or resentment,” she said, adding that she also praised Marlene in her interview for the documentary. “The ‘directors’ didn’t think it was relevant to show it, perhaps, because they had already decided on the sensationalist and ‘vengeful’ bias of the documentary. All of this aimed at the execration of a dedicated and competent professional, a reference for many other Brazilian women.”

The former paquita stated that the documentary judged and condemned Marlene and also said that the then director’s “firm pulse” was necessary at the time. “Everything was very wrong, unfair, cowardly and cruel in this attempted public lynching of a professional who took care of everything and everyone as best she could”, commented Sorvetão.

She continued: “One question remains: Marlene is black, from the Northeast, female and homosexual. The characters who now judge her conduct from thirty years ago are those classified by current moral standards as privileged. Would they have a ‘space of speech’ to do what are you doing?”

Finally, Andréa pinned the documentary and, consequently, the production directors. “First place in streaming is not because of our beautiful story that should have been told. All ‘success’ is just because of the controversy raised once again over Marlene. Marlene deserves respect. Congratulations, you managed to destroy the dreams of many fans”, concluded the ex-paquita who fought with Xuxa and several colleagues three years ago. The breakup was due to political positioning and a post made by Sorvetão and her husband claiming to be “a straight, Christian and traditional couple”.
