Niall Horan, ex-One Direction, remembers Liam Payne: ‘He was the most brilliant’

Former member of One Direction, Niall Horan mourned the untimely death of Liam Payne, who died last Wednesday (16), aged 31, after falling from the balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires. The police are investigating the death. Paying tribute on social media, Horan recalled his years of friendship with him and spoke about his memories.

“I am absolutely devastated by the death of my incredible friend, Liam. It just doesn’t seem real. Liam had an energy for life and a passion for his work that was infectious. He was the brightest around,” he began.

According to him, all the laughs they had together never leave his memory. “We were able to live our wildest dreams together, and I will cherish every moment we had forever. The bond and friendship we had doesn’t happen often in life,” he continued.

The artist recalled that Payne recently went to see him at a show and regretted that that meeting was the last. “I feel so lucky to have seen him recently. Unfortunately, I didn’t know that after saying goodbye and hugging him that night, I would say goodbye forever. It’s heartbreaking,” added the singer, who also sent a Hugs to Liam Payne’s family.

Harry Styles, the most famous former member, had also mourned the loss. “I am truly devastated by Liam’s passing. His greatest joy was making people happy, and it was an honor to do so alongside him,” Harry, 30, wrote.

In addition to Harry and Horan, former boyband members Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson spoke out about their colleague’s death. The band’s official profile also published a statement.

One Direction existed between 2010 and 2016 and was a huge success in the pop universe. The five members attempted a solo career, but Styles was the only one to succeed.
