Children of Cid Moreira are investigated for slanderous accusations; lawyer tries to cancel investigation

Turnaround in the case of Cid Moreira’s inheritance (1927-2024). The Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro denounced Rodrigo and Roger Moreira, his sons, for allegedly lying to the police. According to the investigation, they would not have told the truth about Fátima Sampaio, the widow, having appropriated the presenter’s assets.

In a recent interview with F5Roger stated that Fátima had appropriated her husband’s properties, which she “sold at much higher values, made suspicious negotiations and withheld these values”. According to him, the journalist “dismissed two of his companies and opened one with just her as owner so that the money from the work would go into that account.”

In contact with the F5lawyer Angelo Carbone, who defends the children, claims that the open investigation is baseless. He already filed a preliminary defense on Monday (21) asking for the complaint to be closed.

The professional also plans to file a habeas corpus document in the Court of Justice in the next few hours to pause the criminal action because, in theory, they did not take into account the witnesses and evidence he claims to have. “The fact that my clients are indicted does not mean that they are convicted. This investigation appeared out of nowhere”, he says.

Roger says in his version that he learned from the caretaker who worked with his father for more than 20 years that Fátima would act ill-treated, offering stale food to the presenter and staying out of the house all day. He also accuses her of having had extramarital affairs.

Fátima’s lawyer, Davi de Souza Saldaño claims that all the accusations are false. “Due to the inconsistency of the evidence presented, the practice of slanderous denunciation by the children was investigated, with both being denounced by the Public Prosecutor’s Office for such acts”, says Davi, who also denies mistreating the presenter.
