After 70 years of working on television, José Bonifácio de Olveira Sobrinho, known as Boni, is enjoying his retirement and one of his newly acquired habits is interacting with fans on social media. Recently, the former Globo executive participated in a dynamic to announce his favorites between two options. The businessman chose his favorite villains.
The dispute for iconic characters began with Perpétua, the villain defended by Joana Fomm in “Tieta” (1989) and Raquel played by Glória Pires in “Mulheres de Areia” (1993). Boni chose the evil twin from Ivani Ribeiro’s classic. Then, he didn’t think twice when he gave preference to Carminha, by Adriana Esteves, in “Avenida Brasil” (2012).
When asked between Carminha or Nazaré Tedesco from “Senhora do Destino” (2005), Boni chose the villain immortalized by Renata Sorrah. The dispute became more complicated when it was time for Viúva Porcina, from “Roque Santeiro” (2005), to enter the scene. Regina Duarte’s character beat Nazaré and also Branca from “Por Amor” (1997), played by Susana Vieira.
However, Porcina lost to Odete Roitman, from “Vale Tudo” (1988), which marked Beatriz Segall’s career. “They are all beautiful and wonderful characters. It’s very difficult to choose because we can make mistakes, right? I wanted you to leave your preferences here”, joked Boni, who released an autobiography with behind-the-scenes stories from Brazilian TV in August.
The former director also made a point of mentioning another villain: Flora, from “The Favorite” (2008). “A character played by the incredible Patrícia Pillar”, wrote the businessman. In June, Boni announced his departure from command of TV Vanguarda, a Globo affiliate in the interior of São Paulo, remaining only as an owner, with his sons Bruno Boni and Reynaldo Buzzoni taking his place.
