The Movie “Marty Supreme” of A24, starring Timothée Salamehas sparked interest at the American Film Market (AFM) in Las Vegas.

Information is talking about a budget that reaches 70 million dollars, which makes it not only the most expensive production of this year’s AFM but also of A24.

It tells the story of legendary table tennis champion Marty Raisman, with Josh Safdie directing in his first effort since 2008. The screenplay is penned by the director and Ronald Bronstein, who also share the production with Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas.

The cast of “Marty Supreme” is impressive, as it co-stars Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow, who returns after a five-year absence. Also starring are rapper Tyler The Creator, making his film debut, Fran Dresser and Penn Gillette, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara and Sandra Bernhard.

The film is the most expensive new project on sale at this year’s AFM along with Dwayne Johnson’s post-production “The Smashing Machine,” another sports story.

The fact that A24 is investing in these two productions shows its ambitious intentions. In April, Alex Garland’s “Civil War” opened in theaters, with a budget of $50 million, making it the third most expensive film of the independent production company. According to Deadline, there are reports that he is planning even bigger productions in the near future.
