Ye Kunkun spent 398 yuan (about $56) for an iced Americano at a cafe in southeast China. This is no ordinary price, but this is no ordinary coffee either. There, the best spot is a wooden bench on a towering cliff – above the sea – but with a stunning view.

“At first I was scared when I saw the cliff right in front of me”Ye recalled days later. It took her 30 minutes to reach the spot, where a banner on the cliffside reads Gushi Cliff Coffee. The cafe is named after the city near which it is located – Gushi village, the capital of the southeastern province of Fujian.

Gushi Cliff Coffee has caused a sensation on Chinese social media as intrepid visitors share their experiences.

“It’s not to my taste, but I respect those who dare – There’s no way I’m ever going up there!”one social media user wrote. Xue Ke, the owner of the cafe, told CNN that they receive about 50 visitors on weekdays and double that on weekends. Climbers must book one day in advance.
