The Deputy Prosecutor of Ilias, Mr. Diamantis Floridis, requested a preliminary examination to be carried out by the Police of Ilias, in order to investigate whether the crime of manslaughter (with any kind of intent) of the infant, who died at the age of 15 months, has been committed.

The prosecutor’s order, according to the information of eff. “Patris”, includes all the pre-investigative material collected last August by the Ilida Police Department, since the death of Panagiotakis, son of Popi, the 24-year-old’s friend.

Deputy Prosecutor Mr. Floridis also asks the police officers of the Ilida Security Department, as part of the new investigation, to take statements four specific persons, some of which have already been received, as well as to attach the forensic report with the causes of the child’s death.

A clear picture of the charges that may be formulated will be available after the completion of the relevant investigation, when the case file will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office of Ilia to decide on the initiation of criminal prosecution against suspects, should they arise, for the investigated homicide.

At the same time, the first investigation ordered by the District Attorney of Ilia, Mr. Evangelos Michaelos, which was also sent to the Ilias Security Department, has already been completed by the police. Through this specific order, the First Instance Prosecutor asked to know the course of the infant death cases in Achaia and Ilia and where they are.

According to secure information of the “Patris”, the results of this investigation are already in the hands of the public prosecutor, who is responsible for the next actions. Yesterday, the Athens Prosecutor’s Office forwarded to the Patras Prosecutor’s Office the case file for the death of the 245-year-old’s second baby at the Children’s Hospital in 2023.
