“This is the hair I feel least beautiful with. This is me. This is me without fooling myself.” On Wednesday (20), Black Awareness Day, Aline Wirley reported on the difficulty she has in feeling good about her natural curly hair. The singer was moved, as were her followers, when she released her curls and words to the world.
Aline began her successful career in the Rouge group and got used to wearing braids, hairpieces and wigs. She said that this is the only way she feels beautiful and that wearing her natural hair makes her feel “vulnerable”: “It was so painful that I didn’t look in the mirror for a while because I couldn’t bear to see my hair.”
The singer said that, when she tried to feel good with her natural hair, she received criticism from other people: “I heard from a lot of people that I should change, that I look prettier with lace, with braids, that my husband would leave me.”
Aline shared that she proposed a challenge to herself: “My desire is to transform 4c [curvatura dos seus cachos] beautiful hair, sexy hair.” She said she heard a call from her ancestry to embrace, once again, her natural curls.
“I want to train my eyes on this hair in a gentle and loving way. I really want to learn to love myself completely. My hair is my voice”, she added, emotionally.
In the comments, followers and friends showed support and identification with Aline’s statements. Your beauty transcends any hair. I love you in every way. With you forever!”, wrote her husband, Igor Rickli.
“I cried with you… speech full of truth is always so overwhelming, forceful, touching… a tender kiss on you and all the strength in that beautiful and courageous jump! You are so beautiful”, wrote Juliana Paes. Actresses Lucy Ramos and Camila Pitanga also praised the singer.
“Aline, my love, my dear!!! I want to hug you”, wrote presenter Rita Batista. Former BBBs Sarah Aline, Larissa Santos and Giovanna Pitel also expressed support.
