Queen Bey officially crowned the top pop star of the 21st century. After slowly unveiling its list of the most influential pop stars to hit the scene in the past 100 years, Billboard announced yesterday, Tuesday, December 3, 2024, that the Beyonce is the biggest pop star of the 21st century, surpassing peers such as Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Drake and others.

In its post, Billboard noted that the artist – with the most Grammy Awards in the last 25 years – is a performer and creator “committed to innovation, evolution and overall excellence”, which made her stand out from all the other pop stars in this of the century.

“Queen Bey” taking the top spot is no surprise. The singer is the artist with the most Grammy Awards in history, with a total of 32. Earlier this year, she also became the most nominated artist of all time after securing 11 Grammy nominations for her most recent album, Cowboy Carter, raising her total number to an astonishing 99 nominations during her ten-year career.

In February, Beyonce became the first black woman to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart with her song ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’, proving that her music and talent spans many musical genres. Two months later, she became the first black woman to lead the Top Country Album chart, as well as the first woman to claim the top three spots on Hot Country Songs.

Since last August the people at Billboard have chosen the top 25 pop stars of the past 25 years. In second place, behind Beyonce, is Taylor Swift-something that was announced last week- while third is Rihanna. As for Beyonce’s husband, Jay Z, he is in 16th place.
