Hollywood set set in Thessaloniki for the shooting of the movie “The Bricklayer”

Conversely, time is running out for the shooting of the Hollywood movie The Bricklayer in Thessaloniki, with the city Traffic Police announcing traffic regulations for the needs of the film.

Particularly:

i) From 17.00 on Tuesday 15 March until 19.00 on Thursday 17 March, it will not be allowed to stop and park all vehicles on I. Dragoumi Street (right side of the road, in terms of vehicle traffic), from Vas. Heraklion to Tsimiski Street.

ii) From 19.00 on Tuesday 15 March until 19.00 on Thursday 17 March, all vehicles will not be allowed to stop and park on the following roads:

– Katouni (on both sides), from Tsimiski Street to Vas. Heraklion Street,

– Agios Minas (on both sides), from I. Dragoumi Street to Katouni Street,

Edessis (on both sides), from Katouni Street to V. Hugo Street and

– Olympiou Diamantis (on both sides), from Katouni Street to V. Hugo Street.

iii) From 06.00 on Wednesday 16 March until 18.00 on Thursday 17 March, not all vehicles will be allowed on the streets:

– Katouni, from Tsimiski Street to Vas. Heraklion Street,

– Agiou Minas, from I. Dragoumi Street to Katouni Street,

– Edessis, from Katouni Street to V. Hugo Street and

– Olympiou Diamantis, from Katouni Street to V. Hugo Street.

The traffic of the vehicles will be carried out through the streets of Vas. Heraklion, I. Dragoumi, Tsimiski, Polytechniou, Viktoros Hugo and from the surrounding streets of the area.

Drivers are kindly requested to pay special attention and comply with the signs, in order to avoid road accidents and traffic jams.

We ask for the understanding and cooperation of the citizens.

Where the shooting will take place

The shooting of the film will take place in the studios of Millennium, in Thermi, but also in all of Thessaloniki and areas of Central Macedonia, such as Halkidiki.

The background of this spy thriller will be Aristotelous Square, Emporiou Square, Kapani, the alleys and the walls of Ano Poli, as well as the facilities of the Airport and the Metro.

The film is based on the book of the same name by Noah Boyd, which is based in Berlin, so the producers changed the script to develop in Thessaloniki and Central Macedonia, presenting the region as a film destination in the global audiovisual market.

Greek actors and stuntmen will take part in the film, while for the shooting, which will last about two months, about 3,000 auxiliary actors will be used. At the same time, many Greek professionals from various fields will work, who were trained in the previous period and specialized in the field of film producers.

The catalyst for the smooth implementation of the shooting is the contribution of the local authorities and especially of the Regional Governor of Central Macedonia, Apostolos Tzitzikostas and the Deputy Regional Minister of Tourism Alexandros Thanos, the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Konstantinos Zervas, the Interior Ministry of Film Offices Macedonia and Thrace), Stavros Kalafatis and the President and CEO of EKOME, Panos Kouanis.

A few words about the plot of the film

In the The Bricklayer someone blackmails the CIA by killing foreign journalists, making it look like the Agency is responsible. As the world begins to unite with the United States, the CIA recalls its top – but also revolutionary – agent, forcing him to face his adventurous past as he uncovers an international conspiracy.

The screenplay is written by Hanna Weg (Septembers of Shiraz) and Matt Johnson (Into the Blue).

Directed by Renny Harlin, who has directed the films “Die Hard 2”, “Cliffhanger” and “Long Kiss Goodnight”, among others.

Bricklayer will be played by Aaron Eckhart and Nina Dobrev will be at his side.
