The governor of the state of New Jersey announced Jackson’s release and mentioned the influencer’s actions. “Kim deserves a huge amount of credit for this,” said Phil Murphy.

According to People magazine, the businesswoman learned about the case in 2019, when Jackson wrote to her asking for her help. Accused of first-degree murder in 1999 and advised to plead guilty to receive a 30-year sentence, her history of sexual abuse was only revealed years after her arrest.

‘I could feel her pain through the letters,” Kim told People. The influencer is studying law and has been involved in the fight for criminal reform in the United States. She was moved by the case and sent the letters to two lawyers, Erin Haney and Jessica Jackson, who helped the inmate gain freedom.

Kim and Jackson reportedly corresponded over the next few years. In 2020, the influencer exposed the case on her social networks.

Kim Kardashian was also involved in the case of the Menendez brothers, arrested in 1989 for the death of their own parents and allegedly victims of sexual abuse.
