Forbes ranked the Athenian Riviera, the coastline with the beaches of the southern suburbs of Attica, among the world’s top 10 travel destinations for 2025.

Athenian shores are ranked 5th on the Forbes list, after Amsterdam, New Orleans, Bhutan and Monaco.

In fact, as the Forbes travel guide notes, “travel to the Greek islands is booming, as crowds flock to both the well-known (Santorini and Mykonos) and the lesser-known (Naxos and Ios). The next great Greek seaside resort is just a few kilometers south of Athens.”

In fact, the text refers to the old glory of the shores of Athens. “In the 1950s, the Athenian Riviera gathered famous names such as Frank Sinatra and Jackie Kennedy to its famous beach clubs and sunny shores,” he writes characteristically.

“Today, the area is poised for revival, as luxury accommodations such as the five-star Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens (its first brand in Greece) and One&Only Aesthesis (with bungalows and three swimming pools) have opened there,” the article says.
