Kristen Bell donates more than $100,000 to help people pay medical bills in the US

Actress Kristen Bell, 44, decided to end the year by giving a helping hand to those in need. She teamed up with American influencer Tommy Marcus, better known as Quentin Quarantino, to donate thousands of dollars to people struggling to pay their medical bills in the United States.

In screenshots of direct messages shared on Instagram this Monday (30), Marcus contacted the actress to raise funds for a health-related page on the crowdfunding site GoFundMe.

Bell liked the idea and later completed the rest of the GoFundMe page’s fundraising goal. “We need to do more things like this, the world needs it,” she wrote.

In another message, Bell asked, “How can I donate $100,000 to people who need it for medical bills? I want to make sure we do this in the best way, how do we do this?”

Marcus suggested that for every fundraiser he posts on his page, Bell could “top up” the amount once he reaches half the goal. “For example, the next one needs about $50,000 raised, so once it reaches $25,000 from followers, do you donate $25,000 and we move on to the next one?” he asked.

The excited actress replied: “Yes! Tommy, let’s do it!”

According to a GoFundMe page, Bell donated $20,932 to help a third-grader named Mia fight leukemia. She also donated US$24,182 (R$150,000) to a man named Murilo, also fighting leukemia.

Thanks to Bell’s help, Marcus said his page’s latest fundraiser “has a chance to be some of the most important and impactful work we’ve ever done.”

Marcus continued to praise Bell in an Instagram Story on Monday, writing, “Thank you @kristenanniebell for listening to my idea, deciding to be the catalyst to help these [pessoas] to get to where they need to be, and for helping us start this movement.”

Bell, in turn, shared links to Mia and Murilo’s GoFundMe pages on her Instagram story this Monday (30).
