Gene Hackman, killed at age 95, left three children. His wife, Betsy Arakawa and the couple’s puppy were also found dead last Thursday (27) at the Family House in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Hackman first married in 1956 with Faye Maltese. They were together for 30 years and had three children: Christopher, Elizabeth and Leslie. Faye died in 2017.
In 1992, he married Betsy, with whom he had no children.
Gene Hackman became known for the roles in “Superman” and “Operation France”. He retired from cinema in 2004 and launched himself as a writer.
His first child, Christopher Allen Hackman, is currently 65 years old. In interviews, Gene admitted that his career in film has removed him from family life.
In an interview with GQ in 2011, asked if he still gave his son advice, he regretted: “It was three months away from home recording a movie and when it came back it was hard to play the role of dad manda.”
The actor’s second daughter is Elizabeth Jean Hackman, now 63. In an interview, he talked about a difficult time in his career: “In the 1970s, I borrowed my daughter’s car to go to Hollywood interviews. I barely endured myself, I was accepting just about everything they offered me and trying to make it work,” he said.
Elizabeth also accompanied her father at various events, including the premieres of “Superman” in 1978 and “The Secret” in 1996.
The youngest of the actor is Leslie, now 58 years old. She accompanied her father on red carpets like the 1984 Golden Globe and in the premiere of “The Mighty Boss 3”.
