Virginia Cavendish visited the houses of ten veteran actresses to record interviews on their trajectories on stage and screens for the documentary series “The Secret”, which opens on March 27 (World Theater Day) at Itaú Cultural Play, with free access.
The interviewees are Zezé Motta, Ana Lúcia Torre, Suely Franco, Araci Esteves, Miriam Mehler, Walderez de Barros, Zezita Matos, Guida Vianna, Pleasures Barbosa and Joana Fomm.
They talk about the techniques they learned in the profession, the artists who inspired them, and the beginnings of careers.
The series was conceived by Virginia, who is playing in theaters in “The Auto of Compadecida 2”. She divides the direction and script with filmmaker Daguito Rodrigues.
Actress Zezé Motta, 80 –
Disclosure
In the first episode, the interviewer talks to Zezé Motta in Rio de Janeiro. At the age of 80, the actress and singer resembles the debut in the play “Roda Viva” (1968), staged by José Celso Martinez Corrêa, tells how she learned to sing and speaks of the fight against racism in artistic life.
A common question to all interviewees is the inspiration for each of them. For Miriam Mehler and Walderez de Barros, who will be in the fifth and sixth episode, the answer is Cacilda Becker.
“I saw that inner fire she had. She could talk the way she wanted, she was sensational, always true,” Miriam said.
“I saw her on stage for the first time in a play of Abílio Pereira de Almeida. Cacilda, on the scene, was a lot of muscles. She had electricity and voracity. I remember that I left the theater shouting ‘Who is this woman?!'”, Recalls Walderez.
