Lefteris Petrounias were found in the historic Libovisi of Arcadia with Vasiliki Milloussi and their two girls.

The family visited Kolokotronis’ historic home and as the champion wrote, “for children the images are very strong to learn and remember.”

Libovisi is an abandoned village in Arcadia, in a firing location at 1,210 meters altitude, above the gorges of Mainalos. It is about 30 kilometers from Tripoli. Theodoros Kolokotronis came from Libovisi as his family, where he lived there for twelve generations. Theodore’s ancestor, Triantafylakos Tserginis, arrived first.

After the revolution of 1821, the inhabitants abandoned the area and settled in the village of Katsimbali.

Today the surrounding area has been remodeled at the expense of Panagiotis Angelopoulos. The restored building, which functions as a museum of the Kolokotronian family and the Greek Revolution, is built right next to Theodoros Kolokotronis’ old father’s house and is a faithful copy of the traditional Kolokotronian house.
