Sidney Leonel, 21, a creator of humorous content, is called “XJ Gordão” by his followers on social networks. Asked about the more than half a million views it reaches daily, it is firm in the answer.
“My success comes from the curiosity of people when seeing an obese living like a lean person,” he says. Despite the numerous health problems, such as diabetes, high blood pressure and low testosterone, the young man says he prefers to look at what he has achieved: a mansion, a luxury car and a good life for the family.
Born in Sao Paulo, the influencer, who weighs over 200 kg, began recording videos for the 12 -year -old internet. His first viral was dancing without a T -shirt. “Before my nickname was ‘chubby Vai Toma’, because I was always fat and danced a song from ‘Mc Pikachu’. That’s how I started viralizing, making content that people find funny,” he recalls.
But recognition only came through love for motorcycles. After publishing a video riding an XJ6, it accumulated more than 70 million views and gave rise to the nickname ‘Gordão da XJ’. “Since then, I earn my money with the internet and support my whole family. I am very grateful despite the negative things that come together too,” he says.
The content creator refers to the numerous negative and mostly derogatory comments that he receives in all his publications. He reports that in comments made on his networks, it is possible to find all kinds of joke that any fat man has heard in his life. “I try not to read anything, but sometimes I suffer prejudice outside social networks, this I can’t control.”
Last Monday (17), Sidney shared on his profile that he suffered fatophobia during a flight to João Pessoa. He says he was traveling accompanied by his girlfriend, Nicolle Caroline, when he leaned his belly in a passenger. According to him, the woman was disgusted and then cleaned her arm, “as if I’m dirty.” The publication went viral and its nickname entered the most talked about topics of the day on Google.
However, the influencer says he did not lower his head and claims he used the situation as an incentive to re -make the recommended diet by his nutritionist. He, who went through mental health problems, had stopped with the regime, having again gained a few pounds he had lost earlier.
Today, Sidney already has the endorsement of several doctors to perform bariatric surgery, recommended for obesity cases such as his. But several fears go through the young man’s head. “I was told during an appointment that I have a 1% chance of dying, with the weight I am at the moment. As long as there is risk, I will not perform any surgery,” he says.
He also says he ends up using the weight to create more internet content. “Have you ever seen an obese riding a motorcycle? Shirt on the beach? Driving luxurious cars? I do it all and people are curious to see more and more.”
Therefore, there is the fear of losing the audience along with their pounds. “I’m afraid to lose weight and lose followers, but I have faith that they will continue with me because they like my personality,” he says.
And despite the risks to health and difficulties when doing basic everyday things, he delivers another motivation. “In the end, I try to think that I can help a person with the same weight as mine, who can be happy,” he says. “I plan to lose weight, yes, but just being where I arrived is already a victory.”
