The movie “The Little Mermaid” (2023), with black protagonist Halle Bailey, had a major impact on Airyn de Niro’s acceptance and transition process, 81’s trans daughter of Niro, 81.

In an interview with Them magazine, she said that putting Dreadlooks in a beauty salon after seeing the actress in the cinema was a turning point that made her realize that she would need to highlight her gender expression.

“I think much [da minha transição] It is also due to the influence that black women had about me. To assume this new identity, at the same time, when I am proud of my blackness more, makes me feel closer to them in some way, “he said.

And it was after seeing so many trans women assuming that he thought it would not be late to tell, at 29, what it really is to the world.

“There is a difference between being visible and being seen. I’ve been visible. I think I haven’t seen it yet.”

In the interview, Airyn, who was born Aaron, also spoke about the bullying he suffered at school. According to her, her colleagues ridiculed her body, something that moved a lot with her self -esteem.

“I was always a corpulent person as a child. All the others in the family were relatively thin or fit; I wasn’t. Growing up when people started to enter puberty and like each other … I never had it.”

After taking publicly, Airyn received support from Niro. In the interview, she said he was grateful for her family. “Obviously, no father is perfect, but I’m grateful for mine to have agreed to keep me away from the spotlight. They wanted to be very private, that I had a childhood as normal as possible,” he added.
