Kythnos is a characteristic Cycladic islands, with windows, terraces, low vegetation and a few waters. On its slopes there are many thymes, which in turn give the bees the precious nectar to create one of the best victims of our country!

His camera where there is Greece met beekeeper Francesco Larentzakis, who has been producing thyme honey on the island for many years, and has been distinguished in many competitions and events.

To describe a honey as a thyme must be around 18%, while its own honey, depending on the year, reaches up to 85% thyme content, which offers rich aroma and taste.

Of course, the climate crisis of recent years and the minimum rains that are now falling in Kythnos have also significantly affected honey production. A good year may have gained from 10 to 20 kg per hive, but in the last arid years this is starting to be a thing of the past.

The rains are scarce, as is the production of honey. He, however, is trying to stay optimistic, and does with love what he knows well. That is why he has acquired a steady clientele not only in Athens but also abroad. Indeed, the thyme honey of Kythnos has reached France and Dubai, as it is so unique that it is difficult to replace with another.

Very close to Melissia, Mr. Francis also has his workshop, where he has a part of his production, but at the same time exports the honey and the various products he produces there and to other areas, outside the island. As he emphasizes himself, he would have achieved nothing of all this without the valuable support of his wife. Together they started step by step something that they are proud of today.

The visitor can find fresh thyme honey, royal jelly, pollen, honeycomb, thyme with honey, traditional luminous candles, wedding sweet pastel, spoon sweets, honey bun and more. All made with love, passion and aroma of Kythnos!
