Actress and model Denise Richards obtained a temporary restriction order against her ex-husband, businessman Aaron Phypers, after accusing him of a number of physical aggression, threats and episodes of domestic violence. The information was released by People magazine, which had access to the case judicial documents.
In the case file, Richards details several episodes of violence that would have occurred throughout the relationship. According to her, Phypers even strangled her, slapping her face, hit her head against the bathroom wondering, and even threatening her with death.
“He held me with his knee on his back, to the point that I begged for me to leave. I feared being killed,” said the actress. She also reported that she suffered at least three concussions caused by these aggressions.
In addition to physical violence, Denise says her ex-husband also threatened her verbally, saying that “he would break her jaw”, and that he used to invade his cell phone and computer, lowering conversations and personal messages. “He cried, asked me to stay and say he was going to get help. It never happened,” he said.
According to the documents presented to the court, one of the most recent episodes occurred on July 4, when Phypers would have approached a few inches from his face and shouted aggressive insults. The next day he would have repeated the offenses in front of his own father, Steven Phypers, who would also have turned against the actress. “He started screaming with me and threatened to tell the internet that I was a ‘bitch’,” said Denise.
The marriage between Richards and Phypers began in 2018 and, according to the actress, was marked by constant episodes of abuse. She claims that she did not denounce first out of fear, as the former partner would have threatened to take her own life and hers if she seeked help. The couple’s divorce process became public earlier this month.
Justice granted a provisional protective measure to the actress. So far, Aaron Phypers has not publicly commented on the accusations.
