Do you belong to the category of people who try to please the needs of others, to make them happy and to satisfy their every wish? If so then it’s probably time to start dealing with yourself.
But why is this happening? How did others come to be a priority in our lives? As reported by Dr. Jenn, on Instagram, this is rather a habit that we acquire in our childhood and which we experience as a way of life in our adult life. Maybe again, it is due to deeper causes, which have to do with issues of self-esteem.
Real confusion
Through this process you lose your authenticity, you abolish yourself and not to tell you that, you are often exploited. And yes, we certainly all want to be liked and accepted, but to the extent that we do not neglect ourselves and our needs.
Be that as it may, reconciling your own happiness, desires, and goals with the desires of others will ultimately lead to a state of futility. Because, you have to understand that it is impossible to please others one hundred percent. And if you still try to do that, then you are evolutionarily hurting yourself. It’s essentially a vicious circle, in which you are doomed to fail.
Because if you satisfy others, then you degrade yourself, while if you satisfy your own wants, you feel that you degrade others.
Doctor, save me
Although I’m not a doctor and I just sympathize, I can give you some tips to help you claim yourself.
1. Prioritize yourself and let others take care of themselves. Give yourself time and follow your own path. Prioritize your wants and focus on that, but without stopping caring about those around you. Just give them a chance to take care of themselves, without relying on others.
2. Stop degrading yourself. Feeling that you have ‘Run out of gas’ emotionally is not the answer. Recognize your worth and strive for your own happiness.
3. Accept that we can not like everyone. Do not try to please others by turning yourself into something you are not. Let others recognize your worth and appreciate you for being exactly who you are and not for thanking them.
4. Do not try to fix others. Everyone carries their own burden in this world. Focusing on the lives and problems of others is just leaving your own unresolved. Some things are and must remain personal.
5. Set your limits. You must also have your own personal time. It is not possible to keep running for others. Focus on the present and your dreams and yes, stay a little alone.
It is certainly very difficult to free yourself from this situation. But, if every day you put yourself first for a while, then in the end you will see that you can be reborn and feel happy simply because it is you.
