With less than a month to go until the end of Big Brother Brasil 22 (Globo), there are few favorites for the R$ 1.5 million prize, but there are many stories that have passed through there. Linn da Quebrada, 31, is one of those remarkable trajectories. In the eyes of her friends, a break with stereotypes about transvestites.
Born in São Paulo, Lina, as she is called inside the house, began to gain prominence in 2017, when she released the song “Enviadescer”. She has also acted in films and participated in TV series, but nothing compared to the visibility she now achieves in the Camarote group of BBB 22.
Ana Flor, coordinator of the sister’s social networks, and Thiago Felix, the career manager –both, also, friends of the rapper—, claim that she was determined about her presence in reality and that she entered to win, but only after debating for two weeks the pros and cons of your participation.
“Being part of an edition of the BBB has always been her wish, she’s been talking for a long time. As a manager, I had this back because it’s a program that opens a window for good and for bad. And I even tried convince her not to go in, but she really wanted to. And in the end, it was for the good”, says Felix.
According to him, the singer has always been interested in new discoveries and self-knowledge, which may have led her to reality. “Lina has always been interested in research, in discovery, she has always been more attached to doubts than certainties. I believe that, because of this, she is always learning or experiencing something new”.
Today in the top 10 of the edition and in the dispute for the grand prize, Lina has already counted on her interest in studies and self-knowledge for other achievements. It was like that in his victories in school math Olympiads and winning a scholarship to a private school when he was younger.
For Felix, these characteristics helped her even when she faced testicular cancer, between 2014 and 2017. “She went through this phase with a lot of determination, sharing and clinging to her support network, which was always very present. of fragility also a place of listening, studying and discovering what it was possible to do with your body”, he says.
Another point of support was spirituality. The singer, who was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness as a child, has always explored this side, regardless of religion. “In some way, she has always explored her spirituality from the connection with her own body. Whether through dance, theater, performance or music”, adds the career manager.
With this base, Ana Flor says that Lina went to the BBB to win. “She wants to win, she believes that Brazil can support a transvestite”, says Ana Flor, who also hands over her friend’s plans for the award: buy her mother a house after years of working as a maid, and “give her a worthy”.
“She was very anxious to experience everything, especially an endurance test”, says the friend, after Lina became the first transvestite to win a Leader’s Test of the program, resisting for 23 hours in a dispute. The program had only one transgender contestant before her, Ariadna Arantes, eliminated in the first week of BBB 11.
Felix credits these achievements to Lina’s game, which, according to him, has shown her for what she really is: funny, crybaby, player and strong. “We have received a lot of positive feedback from people who like the way she communicates and treats people”, celebrates Ana Flor.
“DIFFICULTIES AT HOME”
Despite the certainty and preparation to participate in BBB 22, Lina hoped that her participation would generate some negative situations on the part of a prejudiced public. What she didn’t imagine was having to deal with it inside the house, as happened with other participants using the male pronoun to refer to her.
“Lina was not prepared to defend herself against any type of violence like this, because she didn’t believe that it would happen consistently. I don’t think it even crossed her mind”, says Ana Flor to F5. “We believed that she would be attacked a lot on the internet – because we know what Brazil is –, but not inside the house.
“Unfortunately, what we saw was several people wrong with her, over and over again. Until the moment when she felt the need to take a firmer stance and say: ‘This is a guilt that I have relieved for you, but that has been overwhelming me, and at this point I don’t want to do it anymore'”.
In February, Lina even told Slovenia that she was tired of hearing people misspell her pronouns (she/her), after Lucas treated her and Natalia as “both”. “We’ve been here for 30 days. I know who was wrong and how many times they were wrong. This embarrassment is no longer mine,” Linn said at the time. “Every time they do this they ignore my existence […] you kill me one more time.”
“She didn’t think she would go through these issues, not like that, and the way she behaved in the face of it was fundamental, not only for the BBB but also for Brazil”, says Ana Flor. “She knows where she is, and the importance of being more didactic because it takes this information to more people. She has the softness of tone, but also the hardness of the information”, completes Felix.
“Linn leaves a legacy that it’s possible to play the BBB being exactly who you are, in an ethical way, without fear of being wrong or right. Before entering the house, she asked us: ‘If I make a mistake, I don’t want you to pass. cloth for me. I want them to say that I made a mistake and everything is fine, life goes on’. Brazil can support many transvestites and women, in an ethical way”, says Ana Flor.
“BBB is a very intense game, and she had full conviction and understanding of it”, completes Felix. “And Linn always wants to find new experiences to be able to express her truth – she wants to explore more the visual arts, for example. The BBB was an example of that; she wanted to explore how her body would inhabit that space. Because Linn is so moved by experience”.
Lina is currently facing a false wall, alongside Arthur, Eliezer and Gustavo. The most voted will not leave the house, but will stay in a secret room with the power to play pranks on colleagues. The result is in the hands of the public and will be revealed this Tuesday (5).
