Maria counters criticism by Only Fans: ‘I capitalized on sexualization’

The actress and singer Maria, 21, who was expelled from the 22nd edition of Big Brother Brasil (Globo), countered criticism about her presence on the adult content site Only Fans on Monday night (4). “It’s honest money,” said the artist.

She started the publications with photos of some tweets that criticized the decision to be on the site. “I simply capitalized on all the sexualization they do with my body, putting the limits of what I want to expose and choosing the way in which I do it”, she began in a long text written in her Stories.

“I chose to work in the music and audiovisual industry knowing that, for people like me, the hole is deeper,” she continued, who said that the money she receives helps pay bills, studies and even her employees.

Next, Maria stated that the woman’s body is used to sell many products, and cited beer commercials, perfume advertisements and even films with nude scenes out of context. “And everybody made money off of it and followed the dance,” she continued.

“Me being exploited by the industry in clips, lyrics, looks, rehearsals, scenes, clickbaits… it’s normal. Now, of my own free will, choosing what I’m going to post, where, when and for how much, causes such strangeness? that exist and will not be resolved in this generation, but they can start to be debated, without putting ‘the victims’ at the top of the discussion”, he reflected.

She went on to say that she uses her body as a working tool and that she could be “sensualizing” in any of them, however, in this one it was her choice. “What is the surprise to see that today I am 21 years old and understand that I grew up, gained weight, passed puberty, my voice thickened and that now you accompany a young woman? Adult. Independent. Of age”, she continued.

Maria also said that before, she did not receive money for articles that talked about her body and that she was the target of much criticism. “I would like to earn money from my art alone, without answering questions about sexuality. What is my ideal man, or what are my beauty secrets. I would like to be talked about my music without socializing it,” she wrote.

“I would like to be hired beyond the stereotypes and that way I would have more job opportunities for my talent and dedication, and not to fill quotas. I would like to go to events and shows without makeup, without worrying so much about my body, I get dressed or sit on a chair. But this is all still utopia”, concluded the ex-BBB.

Maria acted in the soap opera “Amor de Mãe” (Globo, 2021) and gave life to Verena. During her participation in BBB, she got involved with Eliezer and the two went under the duvet. The singer was expelled from the program after hitting a bucket on Natália’s head during the Game of Discord.
