Netflix in collaboration with Chernin Entertainment has given the green light for the new, dramatic series entitled “Kennedy”, which will focus on the life of the most iconic family in the USA, according to Variety. The two-time Oscar nominee, Michael Fassbender (Michael Fassbender)will take on the role of family patriarch Joseph P. Kennedy.

The series, will include eight episodes based on Fredrik Loggeval’s book, “JFK: Coming of Age in the American Century, 1917-1956”, and is expected to be the American equivalent of “The Crown”. He promises he will “reveal the personal relationships, loves, rivalries and tragedies that shaped the most iconic dynasty in modern American history”.

The first season will begin in the 1930s, chronicling the “unlikely rise of Joe and Rose Kennedy and their nine children, including troubled second son Jack, who struggles to escape the shadow of his ‘golden child’ older brother,” according to the official synopsis.

Sam Shaw will serve as showrunner and executive produce, as will award-winning screenwriter Eric Roth. The direction is signed by Oscar winner Thomas Vinterberg. It will be Fassbender’s second time starring on the small screen after the Paramount+ Premium series “The Agency,” whose second season is in the works.
