The hours in which you are productive betray… your age

by

Are you usually productive when you wake up in the morning or when everyone falls asleep and you have peace of mind? According to research from Adobe, your answer may depend on your age.

On average, people of all ages report being more productive during traditional office hours (from about 9:00 until 18:00). However, there are exceptions to this rule, especially in the category of Gen Z, ie people under 25 years old.

Analytically, 63% of Millennials (25 to 41 years old) and 62% of Gen Zs agree with the phrase: “I feel pressured to work during office hours, even when I know I’ll not be productive.”

Also, among the younger ones there is more pressure to be available online. In particular, 57% of Gen Z respondents said they should be available for communication throughout the day. By contrast, this percentage is 47% for Gen X (aged 42-57) and only 39% for boomers (aged 58-67).

In fact, this is important because 56% of Gen Z employees and 49% of Millennials intended to change jobs within the last year. Top reasons why they wanted change were that they wanted a better balance between life and work, they wanted more control over their schedule and the ability to work remotely.

It is worth noting that according to the same report it appears that more are working overtime than in the pre-pandemic period.
