Christoph Komenta: The great Polish composer and jazz player honored by Google with a Doodle

The 91st anniversary of his birth Christoph Comment (Krzysztof Komeda), of Polish composer who gave his music to famous movies such as “Rosemary’s Baby” and “Vampire Night”, honors with its current Doodle Google.

He came into contact with music from a very young age and started playing the piano at the age of seven. While studying medicine, he kept his passion for music hidden from his classmates. Eventually he chose to use his Komeda caress, as his stage name.

In 1956, he made his solemn debut in jazz, winning it first prize at the Jazz Festival of Sopot. Later that year he won a silver medal at the 9th International Youth Competition in Moscow. During his career he participated in a trio, quartet and quintet in which the few trusted musicians he had by his side alternated.

His fame spread throughout Europe in the 60’s. He wrote over 40 soundtracks in major films, was named Jazzman of the Year by “Jazz” magazine and released an album entitled “Astigmatic”.
