“Let’s go military! Nobody asked us to invite us”, said Preta Gil, on the stage of one of the halls of the Copacabana Palace, stage of the Vogue Ball, this Friday (29). Preta had at her side some of the honorees of the night, in a list that included black artists and athletes such as TaÃs Araujo, gymnast Rebeca Andrade and singers Majur and Linn da Quebrada, among others.
The staff responded to the appeal and what followed were passionate and emotional speeches against heteronormative standards, fatphobia and the lack of black representation. The theme of the night was Fantastic Brazil, and the purpose of the party was to be a celebration of diversity, hence the representatives of various minorities spread throughout the hotel.
A major symbol of a more conservative electronic columnism, Amaury Junior covered the party and showed that he has been trying to update himself. He was encouraged to be informed by his producer that nearby there was a person “who is grooving”.
“Do you know her name? Majur”, said the presenter’s assistant, quickly passing the singer’s file, who broke out in the country in 2019, when recording the song AmarElo alongside Emicida and Pabllo Vittar. Majur was the first trans woman to grace the cover of Vogue.
Armed with this information, Amaury quickened his pace and ran to interview her. There, he was informed by her that his legs measure 1.26 meters (“It was over, right?”). He couldn’t resist. “Can I measure?” And so he did, hands out, one after the other. He counted six palms and concluded that the measurement is true. “Wow!”, he was astonished.
Majur wore a Miss Universe costume made especially for her by Dolce & Gabbana. “All look came from Milan, look at the power”, she said, still on the balcony of the Copa.
“It’s hot here, huh”, said surfer Gabriel Medina in the lounge. He was dressed all in black (except for his very white sneakers and the silver belt buckle, a gigantic Louis Vuitton monogram), sunglasses, and he always walked with at least three friends, one of whom was Brazilian volleyball player Bruninho. , son of Bernardinho.
About to return to the world circuit after a break announced in January, Medina drank gin and tonic and carefully analyzed the women who passed in front of him. Asked if he was not afraid of being a party man, he said he has nothing to hide. He likes to go out at night anyway and nobody has anything to do with it. “I know how to divide party time and work time. I’ve been doing things right.”
Cut to the meeting between Pedro Scooby and actor Jonathan Azevedo, behind the scenes of one of the environments of the party. “Scobera!! Real brabão! Brother, you have a beautiful soul”, excited Jonathan when he saw the ex-BBB appear on the horizon.
Scooby says that Jonathan is “handsome” (he wears an agender outfit, a dress), the two hug and arrange a date. “Come on, bro. When the dust settles, let’s exchange an idea, show up on the slab”, invites the actor, a resident of the Vidigal community, in the south zone of Rio. “Kiss the children,” he says goodbye.
Another noteworthy meeting brought together Jojô Toddynho and the governor of Rio, gospel singer Cláudio Castro (PL). When they crossed paths in the middle of the room, they embraced and showed a certain intimacy. Not at all, guarantees Toddynho. “He’s my uncle’s friend, I greeted him out of politeness,” said the singer. “I have nothing to do with him or with politicians,” she emphasized.
The night’s show was by Ivete Sangalo, who once again showed her ability to entertain the audience like few others — it’s no wonder she was quoted to replace Fausto Silva on Sunday. “Did you call me hot? Tell me something new,” he joked, listening to the screams from the audience.
Ivete was in her usual euphoria and posed for photos with whoever was in the front row, announced a block only of Carnival songs (“If nobody dances I’ll be pissed, huh”), praised her friends in the audience, praised Scooby (” Good people, the bug, huh, people?”) and also ex-BBB Paulo André. “A cat!” she defined herself. Between one song and another, the guests of the ball started a choir in support of former president Lula. Scalded, Ivete ignored it, a new song started, and life goes on.
After two hours of show, the singer provoked: “They’re wanting to put on a DJ now, guys. What do you think of this position of Vogue? Let’s create an intrigue, hahaha. I’m slutty”. The DJ that came next was Marlboro, forerunner of funk in Brazil.
And then the gymnast Rebeca Andrade got excited. She showed that she really likes the rhythm that rocked her in the Olympics in Japan and danced, barefoot and with her arms up, some of the biggest hits. “I arrived, I arrived arriving, messing up the whole damn thing…”, she shouted, in the middle of the dance floor, at three in the morning.
