Kim Kardashian in Marilyn Monroe dress was ‘a big mistake’, says stylist

Stylist Bob Mackie, 82, who designed Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress, disapproved of Kim Kardashian’s choice, 41, to wear it at the Met Gala, which took place in early May. Mackie made the criticism in an interview with the Entertainment Weekly website.

“I thought it was a big mistake,” he said. “[Marilyn] was a goddess. A mad goddess, but a goddess. She was just fabulous. Nobody shoots like that. And it was made for her. It was designed for her. No one else should be seen in this dress,” she added.

Mackie designed the dress design in 1962 for Jean Louis, who was responsible for making the garment Monroe used to serenade then-President John Kennedy on his 45th birthday. The singer died less than three months later.

The socialite revealed that she needed to lose about 7 kilos in three weeks to wear the dress. The part did not fit and could not be altered. “I wore a sauna suit twice a day, ran on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs and just ate the cleanest veggies and proteins,” she told Vogue about her rigorous exercise routine. “I didn’t starve to death, but I was so strict.”
