“I wasn’t happy anymore,” journalist Michelle Barros, 42, tells F5 about her recent departure from Rede Globo. The station’s main substitute anchor in São Paulo, she recently announced her departure from the company to go in search of lost happiness.

Barros is determined to continue working (“without rest, without vacation”) as a communicator on the networks, in addition to dedicating herself to completing her law school. “We journalists are all content creators, whether we’re working in television or in print,” she comments.

She says that everything is going well and not having a contract to fulfill has given her “amplified freedom”. Conta has received invitations to give talks and now plans to launch a podcast with topics of interest to her and issues she cares about. “My focus is not getting into political or other polemics, but issues like racism and violence against women.”

Immersed in new ways of working, yes, but without discarding the possibility of returning to television, ever. “I want to come back in a project that is cool for me and that gives me freedom. But I do want to come back. I have a great affection for this type of vehicle”, he adds.

The communicator’s departure comes after other big names in Globo’s journalism also left the station. Names such as Chico Pinheiro, Carlos Tramontina, Renato Machado, Alberto Gaspar, Ari Peixoto, José Hamilton Ribeiro, Eduardo Faustini, Isabela Assumpção, Marcos Uchoa, Francisco José and Linhares Júnior have already said goodbye to the station.
