In a statement, Unicamp’s Scientific Committee on Coronavirus Contingency reported that there has been an increase in the number of people with respiratory symptoms and positive diagnostic tests for Covid-19 at the university in the last two weeks, but stressed that this growth does not reflect, in the same proportion, , in the number of severe cases.

The committee monitors the evolution of Covid-19 on a daily basis on the university’s three campuses (in Campinas, Piracicaba and Limeira), in the state, in the country and in the world.

In addition to the use of masks, Unicamp recommends faster meals and with as little dialogue as possible between the regulars of university restaurants and canteens; frequent hand washing with soap and water or hygiene with 70% alcohol and avoid agglomerations.

The university also highlights, in the statement, the mandatory complete vaccination schedule for people over 18 years old. Through scheduling, Unicamp offers immunization against Covid-19 at Cecom (Community Health Center), in the university city, in Campinas.

In-person classes are maintained at the university, but there is a recommendation that people with respiratory symptoms do not attend campuses.
