Trump: DeSandis “moderate” – Rumors are rife that they will be opponents for the Republican presidency

Trump already “sees” Florida Gov. Ron DeSandis as his opponent in the Republican presidential race

Trump described Ron DeSandis as an “average” politician, in a statement aimed at undermining the man who could challenge him for the Republican presidential nomination.

DeSandis, 44, was re-elected governor of Florida with nearly 60 percent of the vote, putting him on the table as a rising star and a possible 2024 presidential contender.

But former President Trump described him as “Ron DeSantimonius,” a politician who was “in a desperate situation” when he ran for his first term in 2017.

Characteristically, Trump emphasized:

“He was politically dead, he lost to a very good agriculture commissioner, Adam Putnam, who was loaded with cash and big poll numbers.

Ron had low approval ratings, bad polls, and no money, but he said if I supported him, he could win.
When I supported him, it was like – to use a bad term – launching a nuclear weapon.

I also fixed his campaign, which had completely fallen apart,” Mr Trump added, before praising himself for preventing the “stealing” of Mr DeSandis’ election.

Mr Trump still maintains, despite a lack of evidence, that the 2020 election he lost to Joe Biden was rigged.

Voters in the midterm elections overwhelmingly rejected candidates who supported Mr. Trump’s claims.

The election results are still too early to be announced in many areas, but even though both houses of Congress may be up for grabs, Republicans did not win as easily as many had predicted.

Some of Mr Trump’s fellow Republicans blamed him for this, leaving him in a vulnerable position after six years of dominating the party.

Taking to social media, Trump denied any claims he was angry about the results, saying he was “too busy looking ahead” and added: “Remember I’m a ‘stable genius’.”

Trump, 76, has hinted that he will run for president again and has already said he will make a big announcement on November 15, when he is expected to make his candidacy official.

Trump also said Mr. DeSandis was “playing games” by refusing to rule out his 2024 presidential bid, adding:
“Fake News asks him if he’s going to run if President Trump runs, and he says, ‘I’m just focused on running for governor, I’m not looking at the future.’

“Well, in terms of faith and order, that’s not really the right answer,” Trump said.

He described the build-up to his 2016 victory as a situation where several opponents “disappeared from view… after I knocked them out easily, one by one. We are in exactly the same position now. They will continue to follow us, but in the end we will win. DeSandis did not comment on Trump’s remarks.
