Her renewal for one year of the contracts of auxiliary health personnel as well as fixed-term contracts, the bill “Integrated Palliative Care Provision System – Arrangements for dealing with the pandemic of the coronavirus COVID-19 and the protection of public health and other provisions” provides submitted to Parliament.

At the same time, as the Minister of Health Thanos Pleuris had announced, the contracts of all those hired to fill the gaps are being renewed, regardless of the return of the suspended employees.

As for him flu vaccination during the 2022-2023 period, it is stipulated that the flu vaccine is reimbursed by EOPYY and the other insurance funds, without the need to present a medical prescription.

It is recommended by the bill National Patient Registry palliative health care to ensure the quality of life of patients suffering from life-threatening illnesses, through the prevention and relief of pain and other physical, psychosocial and spiritual problems.

“The purpose of the bill is to create an integrated palliative care provision system, which, combined with the other existing structures of the National Health System, will focus on and serve the specialized needs of patients and their families,” as reported by the Ministry of Health.

In more detail, the bill includes:

  • The creation and organization of a palliative care service delivery system,
  • The determination of palliative care provision structures and the minimum quality criteria for their operation and the delimitation of the manner and amount of their compensation for the services they provide.
  • The provision of the formation of a multidisciplinary team of health professionals to provide specialized palliative care, as well as the possibility of training all health professionals who provide palliative care services.
  • Anticipating the establishment of a national palliative care patient registry and
  • The establishment and delimitation of the responsibilities of the National Committee for the Development of Palliative Care as an interdisciplinary advisory body, which will assist the Central Health Council (CHC) and the Ministry of Health in drawing up the central national policy for the development of palliative care Palliative Care.
