Pavlakis to SKAI about “Kraken”: It is a very dangerous strain – Everyone is at risk

As one very dangerous strain doctor-researcher Giorgos Pavlakis described to SKAI the new mutation of the coronavirus “Kraken” in the shadow of the first six cases of the mutation that occurred in Greece.

“We are concerned about the mutation, it is a very dangerous strain, it prevails in a field full of wild strains, it is one of the 4-5 strains that have destroyed the monoclonal antibodies that immunocompromised people who have had transplants relied on” pointed out Mr. Pavlakis. “People who used to rely on monoclonals for very important protection can’t rely on them anymore,” said Pavlakis.

“And with two, and with five vaccines, he can infect everyone again, no one is out of danger” emphasized Mr. Pavlakis.

Asked if he might have created a more dangerous strain, he replied that it might have already happened and it might take some time to find it.

“We are not close at all at the end of the pandemic” warned Giorgos Pavlakis.

According to the doctor, “with the opening of China, we “bought” two more years of pandemic. We will have 1 billion infections in China… In a few days the WHO will give an opinion. Even if they say that the pandemic is over, there will be destruction in China,” he said.

“We have 3 or 4 epidemic waves of new viruses every year that show no sign of stopping… In my opinion it is too early to declare the end of the pandemic” the doctor noted.

He explained that we will go with the updated vaccines as they work, but unfortunately we will expect a lot of people to get sick.
