Mônica Bergamo: Covid cases will peak at the end of January in SP, says secretary

Covid-19 cases in the city of São Paulo caused by the new wave, the ômicron, should reach their peak between the end of January and the beginning of February, according to projections made by technicians from the Municipal Health Department.

“From the data that are being collected in our units, the curve is now starting to point upwards more intensely. And it should now rise in a straight line, as it happened in other countries”, says the municipal secretary of Health, Edson Aparecido .

The pressure on the hospital network, which is already great, will become even greater. According to him, there was a 30% growth in the number of cases of ômicron in the city.

Calls have already increased and the emergency rooms are full. On December 4, for example, the city hall recorded 359 consultations for respiratory problems. On January 4, 749 were attended.

DIVING

Hospitalizations are still low. On December 4, 265 patients were hospitalized (119 in ICUs and 146 in wards). On January 4, there were 117 (35 in ICUs and 82 in wards).
