TOGETHER WE CAN in collaboration with the Hellenic Initiative against Alzheimer’s Disease, the Thallos Program and the CSI Institute organize free online courses related to Alzheimer’s disease.

It is the live broadcast of a series of 4 courses, for citizens of all ages, which aim to educate those who care for patients with dementia.

The online courses will take place:

on Thursday, September 21 (18:00 – 19:00), World Alzheimer’s Day
Wednesday, September 27 (18:00 – 19:00),
Friday September 29 (18:00 – 19:00),
And Wednesday, October 4 (18:00 – 19:00)

The topics of the 4 courses are as follows:

1st lesson: Dementia. Science & Reality
Basic pathology & symptoms of dementia,
Modern diagnostic tools,
Setting a possible cure.
Speaker: Dr. Konstantinos Lyketsos, Elizabeth Plank Althouse Professor at Johns Hopkins

2nd lesson: Substantial Activities
The importance of person-centered care and the benefits of active participation of people with dementia in everyday life.
Speaker: Nikos Skarmeas Professor of Neurology at EKPA

3rd lesson: Communication
Changing the way we communicate with people with dementia,
Effective communication tools for the caregiver.
Speaker: Notis Paraskevopoulos MSc in Dementia

Lesson 4: Caregivers: The Unsung Heroes
The burden and the need to relieve the caregiver through his decisive role.
Speakers: Dr. Konstantinos Lyketsos, Nikos Skarmeas, Notis Paraskevopoulos
