Studies have shown that “in communities with strong primary care, stronger public health infrastructure and fewer social vulnerabilities, citizens had 42% less chances to they die from covid-19 infection. At the same time, the speakers presented the diagnostic tools and the new treatments that were added to the quiver of science and are now available to Greek patients. It was stressed that the vaccine and non-drug prevention interventions in the community remain in the new phase of the pandemic powerful weapons, for the protection of the citizen and society.
The president of ISA and governor of Attica George Patoulisopening the conference, referred to the Primary Health Care Network of ISA, ISP (Piraeus Medical Association) and Attica Region for covid-19 infection and stressed, among other things, the need for cooperation of the scientific community with the local government, for diseases and the promotion of public health.
“This major health crisis has highlighted the importance of primary health care being placed at the core of modern and efficient health systems. “We strongly believe in a strong primary health care for our country, organized in interdisciplinary teams and with innovative roles, for health professionals, equipped with digital technology”, stressed Mr. Patoulis and added that in this strategy, the local government can and should to play a dominant role. “We organized the Primary Health Care Network for covid-19, aiming at every corner of the Basin, our fellow citizen who is diagnosed positive to know where to go. “We hope that it will further develop into a strong model structure that will play a central role in the Primary Health Care strategy in our country,” he concluded.
